Job Description A Fitter is a skilled professional responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems and machinery. They work in various industries, including manufacturing, construction, and maintenance, ensuring that mechanical components and systems are installed correctly and function efficiently.
Responsibilities: Reading Blueprints and Schematics: Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to understand project requirements and specifications. Measuring and Cutting: Measure, cut, and shape metal components to specified dimensions using hand tools, power tools, and metal cutting machines. Assembly: Assemble mechanical components and systems according to technical specifications and blueprints. Installation: Install machinery and mechanical systems, ensuring proper alignment and fit. Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns. Inspection and Testing: Inspect and test assembled and installed components to ensure they meet quality standards and function correctly. Welding and Fabrication: Use welding and fabrication techniques to join metal parts and create custom components as needed. Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and standards. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
